Tire Defect Attorney

Goodyear Tire Recalls

Formed in 1898 by Frank Seiberling in booming Akron, Ohio, Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company not only manufactured pneumatic tires, but also produced bicycle tires until 1976, and airships, as well. Responsible for the most notorious advertising icon in modern history (Goodyear Blimp), the multibillion-dollar tire giant was named after the founder of vulcanized rubber, Charles Goodyear.

Among Goodyear’s initial products were poker chips, horseshoe pads, carriage tires and racing tires. The company has a remodeled world headquarters in Akron, a dissolved partnership with Sumitomo Tire and Rubber Company, and a $40.1 million mesothelioma lawsuit in its recent history.

Consumers with serious injuries due to issues with Goodyear truck tires and passenger car tires should immediately call the tire defect attorneys Halpern, Santos & Pinkert, a pro-consumer firm offering superior representation in all claims of Goodyear tire malfunctions. No fees are charged upfront, and nothing is owed if you lose.

Notable Goodyear recalls

Numerous recalls have occurred in Goodyear’s otherwise successful history of replacement tire production. All the below occurred from 1980 to present:

  • 2015: Tread cracking forced 48,512 Goodyear Fortera HL P255/65R18 109S tires to be recalled. Produced between November 30, 2014 and January 10, 2015, these tires failed FMVSS regulation 139, which calls for certain standards in light vehicle tires.
  • 2009: 40,915 Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor tires, sizes LT275/70R18 LRE, LT265/70R17 LRE, LT235/80R17 LRE, LT325/60R18 LRE, LT245/75R17 LRE, and LT285/70R17 LRD, were recalled due to tread separation causing serious vehicle damage, injuries and potential fatalities. Tires produced from March 1 to May 31, 2009 were recalled and replacements were given free of charge.
  • 1985: 6,000 Goodyear 8R195 manufactured between December 1, 1982 and February 1, 1983 were recalled over two years after the defects were recognized. Due to an irregularity in the rubber gauge distribution, stress cracks would form through the rubberized ply cords.
  • 1980: Goodyear 165SR13 produced between August 1 and November 1, 1979 were recalled due to an insufficient sidewall gauge, which could have led to cracking if speeds reached 55 mph or higher. A total of 12,500 tires were subjected of this recall.

You may find additional Goodyear recalls on the tire maker’s website or on the NHTSA website.
